Eagles News Update: DeVonta Smith's Wedding & Training Camp Insights (2026)

The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for another season, and there's a lot of buzz surrounding the team's upcoming moves. One of the biggest questions on everyone's mind is whether or not the Eagles will sign DT Jalen Carter to an extension. Carter is a special talent who was a key part of the team's Super Bowl win in 2024, but he had a rough 2025 season due to injuries and off-field incidents. In my opinion, the Eagles should definitely sign Carter to an extension, but it won't be cheap. The highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL is making around $31 million per season, and Carter's next contract is going to be huge. However, I think the Eagles can afford it, and it would be a smart move to keep a key player who has already proven himself as a difference-maker. What many people don't realize is that Carter's injuries and off-field issues are not reflective of his true potential. He still had a good season in 11 games, with 3 sacks, 7 batted passes, 5 TFLs, and 12 QB hits. If the Eagles can keep Carter, it would be a huge boost to their defense and a smart investment for the future. Personally, I think the Eagles should also focus on their offense, particularly the tight end position. Dallas Goedert has been a key part of the team's success, and he understands that being taken out of his comfort zone can be a winning challenge. As the NFL offense evolves, Goedert is looking to master new concepts and attack coverages, and I think he will be a key player in the Eagles' success this season. What makes this particularly fascinating is the potential for the Eagles to have a two-headed monster at running back, with Barkley and Bigsby splitting touches. I'd love to see the team balance out the RB touches more between Barkley and Bigsby after the juice that Tank showed last year. However, I think the Eagles will need to address their safety position, as DeJean is in need at nickelback and Marcus Epps plays competently enough to hold the fort. Overall, I think the Eagles have a lot of potential this season, and I'm excited to see how they perform. In my opinion, the team has a strong defense and a talented offense, and I think they will be a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.
